About BlueCamp

BlueCamp began with a simple question.

In 2015, we were approached by the Wadden Association, who wanted us to develop sustainable accommodation for their WEXers – the mudflat guides on the Wadden Islands. A place to sleep. Simple, sturdy and with as little impact on the environment as possible. That was the starting point.

Together with ESVO in Volendam and TenCate Outdoor Fabrics, we developed a tent made from recycled jeans, using denim yarns that BlueLoop Originals was already using. The tent was produced entirely in the Netherlands. Not because that was the easiest route, but because it felt right to do it that way.

In 2016, we attended Into The Great Wide Open for the first time. There, it became clear that BlueCamp was about more than just a tent. It was about the place, about being outdoors together, about local food, peace and mindfulness. About waking up in the morning without rushing. About conversations at long tables and sharing what you’d seen and felt the night before.

Now, BlueCamp consists of a lovely team that feels like family. We enjoy seeing how people settle in, how they switch from the daily hustle and bustle to the tranquillity of BlueCamp. How a camp slowly becomes a small community. Some seek silence, others conversation. Everything can coexist.

To me, BlueCamp feels like something you create together – with the team, with the guests, and with the place we’re staying at.

I’m someone who loves to build things. With my hands, but also in terms of atmosphere and trust. With an eye for detail, without it ever becoming complicated. I try to reflect that attention in everything: in how we set up camp, how we cook, how we look after the place and one another.

When we’re done, we leave nothing behind. What remains are the memories that everyone takes home with them.

BlueCamp is not your standard accommodation. It is an invitation to experience a festival or party in a slightly different way. Where nothing is compulsory and so much comes to life.
